NEW BLOG FOR AUSSIE TRAVEL 2023.

Hi All - well it's been a Looong time since we used the Blog.  Our Website 'Living-our-dream.com' was closed some time ago due to cost of maintaining it.  So thought we would go back to the blog and see how that goes.

We are leaving on 14 Jan 2023 to do a trip around Australia. The intention is, at this stage, to head for Tamworth in NSW for 4 days of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. After that we will travel to Newcastle to visit John & Vicki for a few days then a slow trip to Bright in Victoria for three days of The Adventure Travellers Film Festival. Next we intend to follow the Murray River to Adelaide and then just keep on going and see how far we get.  Hopefully across the Nullabor to Western Australia, up to Broom, to Darwin then home again somewhere around October?

We are travelling in a Holden Colorado towing a 6 Meter 5th Wheeler.

So we headed off on the 14th January and stayed the night at a Karara a little blip on the map with a nice free campsite at the community hall, it has a pub and Hmmm that seems to be it!!

We spent 2 nights at Copeton Dam. Again a lovely spot, close to the water and we had a couple of awesome sunsets:

After 2 days at Copeton Dam we headed for Tamworth for the Tamworth Country Music Festival, stopping at Barraba and checked out some of the towns murals. These were on the wall of the Library.

And this Silo is just out of town:

We travelled on to Tamworth for a few days of the annual Country Music Festival. Plenty there to see and do.

After a short stay in Newcastle, we head off past Bathurst and on to Oberon.  Dropped in to 'The Drip', a grade 4 Walking track, for some really nice scenery.

Nice camp by water near Oberon with some lovely wildlife.

We take a drive to Kanangra Boyd National Park and do a walk down to a waterfall. It was a long way down to a 'little' waterfall.. Lovely scenery here tho.

Elizabeth visits the Mayfield Gardens.

We eventually head up into the Snowy Mountains where it gets pretty cold - down to 4degrees C. And check out the beginnings of the Murray River and Snowy Mountains Scheme.

From Tom Groggins Campground, we took a trip up to a lookout to check out the snow on the hills overlooking the camp. Yeah, it snowed a couple of days before we were there.

We have seen some really fantastic Silo Art - (Murals painted on Silos). Here are a few:

Pretty Cool eh?

To be continued.  Our travels so far:

  1. Wow, how fun to see your newest blog. I have our card from back in 2014 on my desk and thought tonight, I need to find out what the Stewart family is doing now?? Well we still have 2 ft of snow here in Minnesota, but Spring is coming. Loved to see your 'silo art', which I have never seen done here in the US. There is a town north of Victoria Canada, that has paintings on local business walls and there is even competition for the next wall painting. Fascinating to see on the silos. We have plenty of those in Minnesota and the plains states. Look forward to the rest of your Round Australia series.
